Pandemic-resilient Business

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020

There’s a lot of talk about post-lockdown just now – as if we are ever going to go back to what used to be normal.

Uncontrolled population growth, encroachment on the natural habitats of different species and a global economy say that this pandemic is the first of many. Long vaccine leadtimes and partial, temporary protection when they do arrive says each pandemic will add another virus to the permanent mix; like colds and flu we will have to learn to live (and die) with them as they wax and wane.

Social distancing renders many industries unviable so we’ll need some kind of Proof of Wellness that we can all trust to return to profitable levels of utilisation. Smart phones can be forgotten (or deliberately left behind) so we’re talking implanted sensors, probably working with smart buildings and transport systems. Privacy concerns will shrivel when it’s that or no holiday in Majorca.

People aren’t going to want to travel to work, especially when they get made redundant every couple of years as the next lockdown kicks-in. Employee engagement will be a thing of the past. If you don’t have a captive market (like supermarkets and streamers do) then your business better be able to go from 100% to 0% output and back quickly while not screwing up customer service or running out of cash.

What would that business look like? Find out here.
